On occurrence disaggregation of probabilistic seismic hazard

چکیده

Disaggregation of probabilistic seismic hazard allows to quantify how much one or more earthquake scenarios contribute the occurrence [exceedance] a ground motion intensity measure ( I M ) $( {IM} )$ threshold interest (x) at construction site. The scenario is usually defined in terms magnitude (M), source-to-site distance (R), and possibly includes standardized residual (?) model considered analysis. Analytically, case interest, disaggregation provides joint probability density function { , R } $\{ {M,R} \}$ ? {M,R,\varepsilon conditional on = x $IM x$ event, that is, f | ${f}_{M,R|IM x}$ ${f}_{M,R,\varepsilon |IM . Occurrence important for number engineering applications, it typically addressed literature an approximated manner, considering as conditioning event ? + ? \in {x,x \Delta x} with $\Delta being arbitrary finite width interval. This short communication undertakes deeper examination clarifying that: (i) no approximation needed (i.e., when sought); (ii) theoretically degenerate, such, its via can lead misleading results; (iii) if chosen coherently discretization domain used integral, leads enabling conclusion does not add information respect disaggregation.

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment of Tehran Based on Arias Intensity

A probabilistic seismic hazard assessment in terms of Arias intensity is presented for the city of Tehran. Tehran is the capital and the most populated city of Iran. From economical, political and social points of view, Tehran is the most significant city of Iran. Many destructive earthquakes happened in Iran in the last centuries. Historical references indicate that the old city of Rey and the...

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis for Ground Shaking

Foreword The purpose of the Delta Risk Management Strategy (DRMS) Initial Technical Framework (ITF) is to guide the analysis of specific technical topics as they relate to assessing potential risks to Delta levees and assets resulting from various potential impacts (e.g., floods, earthquakes, subsidence, and climate change). These ITFs are considered " starting points " for the work that is to ...

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Map on the French National Territory

Seismic hazard assessment for the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings, in particular of critical facilities, in France follows traditionally a deterministic approach. A Short Note on Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis

Although probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) is the most widely used method to assess seismic hazard and risk for various aspects of public and financial policy, it contains a mathematical error in the formulations. This mathematical error results in difficulties in understanding and application of PSHA. A new approach is presented in this paper. Seismic hazards derived from the new ap...
